Hello everyone,In this section I m going to discuss very important NCERT biology book topic STDs or sexually transmitted diseases.I will explain this topic both in english and hindi.Besides of these you will get very high level standard  question and answer at the  end related to this topic.

 Any disease or illness spread by sexual relationship is called STDs or Venereal disease(VD)or reproductive tract infection(RTI)

Koi bhi bimari jo sexual sambhand kai duwara ek insan se dusre insan tak failata hai wese bimari ko  sexually transmitted disease (STDs)or venereal disease(VD) or reproductive tract infection(RTI)

The most discussed infection in the recent years, HIV leading to AIDS are some of the common STDs. Among these, HIV infection is most dangerous.
HIV & Hepatitis- B can also be transmitted by sharing of injection
Some of these infection like hepatitis B and HIV can also be transmitted by sharing of an injection needles, surgical instruments etc., with infected persons transfusion of blood, or from an infected mother to the foetus too.
Except for hepatitis-B, genital herpes and HIV infection, other diseases are completely curable if detected early and treated properly.

•HIV and hepatitis B can be also  transmitted through an injection needles,surgical instruments etc
•Through blood transfusion HIV or Hepatitis B are easily transfer from an infected person to a healthy person.
•HIV, hepatitis B and genital herpes are not curable or unable to treated
•But others disease like gonorrhoea, Human papillomavirus(HPV), trichomoniasis,chlamydiasis and syphilis are curable if detected erly and treated properly.

Early symptoms of most of these are minor and include Itching, fluid discharge, slight pain, swellings,etc., in the genital region.
Infected females may often be asymptomatic and hence, may remain undetected for long.
Absence or less significant symptoms in the early stages of infection and the social stigma attached to the STDs, deter the infected persons from going for timely detection and proper treatment.

What happend if it is not detected in the early stages?
This could lead to complications later, which included pelvic inflammatory diseases (PID),abortions, still births,ectopic pregnancies infertility or even cancer of the reproductive tract.
STDs are a major threat to a healthy society. Therefore, prevention or early detection and cure of these diseases are given prime consideration under the reproductive health-care programmes.
Thought all persons are vulnerable to these infections, their incidences are reported to be very high among persons in the age group of 15-24 years the age group to which you also belong.

There is no reason to panic because prevention is possible. One could be free of these infections by following the simple principles given belo
(i)Avoid sex with no unknown partners/multiple partners.
(ii)Always use condoms during coitus.
(iii)In case of suspicion , one should go to a qualified doctor for early detection and get complete treatment if diagnosed with disease on time.
